Title: Medical Nutrition Therapy in Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)

Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease a non-communicable disease is characterized by an irreversible damage to kidney function and a reduction in glomural filtration rate where dialysis or even transplantation is required for survival. Literature has proven that implementing proper Medical Nutrition therapy basics while adapting a patient centered care approach can improve general quality of life of the patient and probably delay the progression of the disease. Due to the complexity of the disease and its management, lack of proper local & regional Guidelines some dietitians might lack confidence when treating patients and prefer to refer to a well-trained clinical dietitian.
My presentation will highlight the importance of Malnutrition Screening in CKD patients, and will summarize the latest published guidelines and clinical practices in the above mentioned topic
